IYBA Open house at Bahia Mar Marina in Ft. Lauderdale!

Let me tell you a story of James and Mark from Yachtmann.com. I’m Mark Outlaw, a USCG MASTER SEA CAPTAIN & YACHTMANN.com Yacht & Ship Broker. James and I attended the September 2017 International Yacht Brokers Association Open House at the legendary Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale. The open house showcased a range of boats from Tara Ann (a rare 31’ Tiara with a tuna tower) to Maverick (a 138’ super yacht built by Sterling). My personal favorite at the Open House was the 94’, Lazzara built, Lady Marea. But I am partial to hot tubs.

Somehow, I resisted the urge to hop in. I used to think the only way to get a Jacuzzi on a boat was to ride the dingy lashed to the trampoline of a catamaran in heavy seas. In fact, FOUNTAINE PAJOT’s brand NEW Fp 67 Sailing Cat includes a Jacuzzi on its option sheet. Be sure to ask Capt James Fachtmann how he & Atlantic-Cruising Yachts (#1 Global Fp Dealer) can help you order one today!

Just as the Open House was shutting down, the crew of Happy Days (the 130’ Mangusta motor yacht) allowed us on board for the last tour of the day. I have to say the interior of this vessel could easily have been confused with an apartment on Park Avenue in downtown Manhattan.

As a matter of fact, there was an actual apartment at the open house, with a unique feature, it’s a self-propelled barge.

It is a nod to the Dutch notion of floating homes, with really stunning contemporary style interior.

Now I am looking forward to the IYBA Conference on October 4th!
